New to Canada? We Help You Get Your Ontario Licence
AZAN Driving School helps new immigrants in Mississauga and Oakville understand Ontario driving rules, prepare for G2 or G road tests, and drive with confidence.
Whether you drove for years in your home country or you are completely new behind the wheel, we start from your current level. You do not need to feel confused about Ontario roads, DriveTest rules, or what lesson package to choose.
New to Ontario Driving? You Are Not the Only One
Moving to Canada means learning many things again. Driving is one of them.
Ontario has its own road rules, road test system, traffic habits, signs, school zones, highway rules, and examiner expectations. Some habits that worked in your home country may not work here. For example, stop signs, lane changes, speed limits, right turns on red lights, and highway merging are treated very carefully during Ontario road tests.
Abdul teaches new immigrants every week. Some students have many years of driving experience outside Canada. Some have a foreign licence but have never driven in Ontario. Some are complete beginners and want to learn from the start.
The lesson does not start with judgment. It starts with understanding where you are right now.
What Do New Immigrants Usually Struggle With?
Many new immigrants are good drivers, but Ontario driving feels different at first.
Students often need help with full stops at stop signs, school zone speeds, lane discipline, right of way, blind spot checks, parking rules, highway merging, and understanding what DriveTest examiners expect.
Some students also feel nervous because they are driving in a new country. The roads are wider, traffic moves differently, and the road test feels stressful.
AZAN Driving School helps you adjust step by step, so you can drive safely and prepare properly before your test.
Can You Exchange Your Foreign Licence in Ontario?
It depends on your home country and your driving experience.
Ontario has licence exchange agreements with certain provinces, territories, U.S. states, and some countries. Drivers from exchange jurisdictions may be able to apply for an Ontario Class G licence, but the licence they receive can depend on their driving experience. Drivers from countries without an exchange agreement may still receive credit for foreign driving experience, but they must pass the required Ontario tests. Always check the official DriveTest website before making a decision because requirements can change.
Even if you qualify for an exchange or experience credit, lessons are still useful because Ontario road rules and test expectations may be different from what you are used to.
What We Cover for New Immigrants
Ontario Driving Rules
We explain the rules that commonly confuse new drivers in Ontario.
This includes full stops at stop signs, right turns on red lights, speed limits, school zones, lane changes, pedestrian crossings, parking rules, highway merging, and examiner expectations during the G2 or G test.
The goal is simple. You should understand what to do, when to do it, and why it matters.
Local Road Practice in Mississauga and Oakville
You do not need generic practice on roads you never use.
Students practice in real local areas such as Erin Mills, Clarkson, Meadowvale, Cooksville, Glen Abbey, Bronte, River Oaks, and nearby communities.
You practice residential streets, main roads, intersections, parking areas, and road test style conditions based on your location and licence goal.
G2 and G Road Test Preparation
If you need a G2 test, we focus on the skills examiners check most carefully. This includes parking, lane changes, stop signs, turns, intersections, speed control, mirror checks, blind spot checks, and calm decision making.
If you need a G test, we focus on highway driving, merging, lane discipline, safe distance, speed control, exits, and advanced road awareness.
Students in Mississauga often prepare for the Hurontario DriveTest Centre. Students in Oakville often prepare for the Oakville DriveTest Centre.
Licence Exchange Guidance
We are not a government office, but we can help you understand the common steps and prepare for the driving part of the process.
If your country qualifies for a licence exchange, we can help you understand what driving skills still matter in Ontario. If your country does not qualify for a direct exchange, we can help you prepare for the G2 or G test based on your experience level.
For official licence exchange rules, documents, and eligibility, always use DriveTest or Ontario government resources.

How Lessons Work for New Immigrants
First, you book an evaluation lesson or choose the course that matches your situation.
During the lesson, Abdul checks your driving level, explains Ontario road habits, and identifies what needs to improve before your test.
Then you practice on local roads in Mississauga or Oakville. The lessons focus on your real needs, not a fixed script.
If you are preparing for a road test, the final lessons focus on test skills, common mistakes, and confidence under exam-style conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to retake my driving test in Ontario if I have a foreign licence?
It depends on your home country, licence type, documents, and driving experience. Some countries have exchange agreements with Ontario. Other drivers may receive foreign experience credit but still need to pass Ontario tests. Check DriveTest for the current official requirements before booking anything.
How many lessons do I need if I already drove for years in another country?
Most experienced foreign drivers need a few lessons to adjust to Ontario rules and road test expectations. Some need 6 to 12 lessons. Some need fewer. The evaluation lesson gives you a clearer estimate based on your actual driving.
